CHALLENGED BY TIMESLOT: “Contessa” lead star Glaiza de Castro says she’s quite nervous filling up the timeslot vacated by “Ika-6 na Utos,” which ruled ratings war in the afternoons for 14 months.
The pressure, she admits, has been building up, knowing full well that network is probably banking on the previous show’s huge success.
“I just hope and pray that the afternoon habit stays with us on that timeslot, which has been fully developed by GMA,” Glaiza said during the media launch of her new show.
She admitted it felt very good to be assigned a title role for her new series. “I feel so important to the network,” she said.
Glaiza previously appeared in “Encantadia” and “Grazilda.”
“Contessa” opens on March 19, right after “Eat Bulaga.”

VENGEFUL WOMAN SIYA: Glaiza is both Contessa/Beatrice in the series, twin roles that entails huge responsibility, in her own words.
After being accused and imprisoned for a crime she did not commit, Bea is determined to seek revenge on those who committed injustice to her.
The series will allow viewers to witness her redemption and thirst for justice as she rises from the ground, stronger than ever as she claims a new identity as Contessa.
Playing key roles in the series are Geoff Eigenmann and Jak Roberto as her leading men.
There are also Lauren Young, Mark Herras, Leandro Baldemor, Dominic Roco, Bernadette Allyson, Melissa Mendez, Tanya Gomez.

BISEXUAL MAN SIYA: Gabby Eigenmann plays a bisexual man in “Contessa.” He patterned his character, albeit a mean one, from famous showbiz celebrity Pancho Herrera in the series “Narcos.”
“People will hate me for this character I am playing. He’s quite mean, and I love it,” the actor, who loves challenging roles, stated.

CHANDA AND TETCHIE: Two of the veteran actors featured in “Contessa” peaked as stars in the late 70s playing roles that called for sexy scenes.
Chanda Romero and Tetchie Agbayani have both matured as very good, dependable actors. Thus explains their longevity in the industry.
