A 4.0 magnitude earthquake jolted Siargao Island in Surigao del Norte province at dawn on Friday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
In its bulletin, Phivolcs said the earthquake was recorded at 2:06 a.m.
The epicenter was located 33 kilometers (km) northeast of Burgos, Surigao del Norte province.
The tectonic earthquake had a depth of 32 km, it said.
Surigao del Norte Gov. Sol F. Matugas said there was no reported casualty or damage on the said tremor.
However, she immediately mobilized the PDRRMC quick response team in that island to check on the ground about the status of the residents in the area, particularly tourists, both foreign and domestic, in the nearby tourism hub in General Luna town.
