San Miguel Alab Pilipinas’ bid to secure an outright semifinals berth suffered a big blow Sunday night after absorbing a 92-79 loss to vengeful Chong Son Kung Fu in the ASEAN Basketball League at the Nanhai Gymnasium in Nanhai, China.
Alab was outscored 27-14 in the third quarter, allowing Chong Son to extend a 46-42 halftime lead into 20 points, 72-52, late in the period behind American imports Anthony Tucker and Justin Howard.
Imports Justin Brownlee and Renaldo Balkman and reigning Local Most Valuable Player Ray Parks Jr. were forced to do the heavy lifting as they got little support from the rest of the Alab squad and suffered their second straight loss after winning consecutive matches.
