San Miguel’s Arwind Santos was fined P20,000 by Commissioner Willie Marcial on Wednesday for comments alluding to a “shadow” that led to their downfall.
Santos drew a hefty sanction after being summoned by Marcial to explain his comments where the veteran forward apparently rued spotty officiating in a different manner.
“Parang may mga shadow yung mga players. Parang yung lima nagiging walo,” Santos said. “Parang ganun e kaya parang nahihirapan kami bantayan kasi lima lang yung kalaban, pero nagiging walo. Ewan ko kung sobrang bilis kaya may shadow? Parang ganun e.”
Santos appears to be relishing his “bad guy” role since making a gesture at a heckler in the Beermen’s stunning 104-102 win in Game 2 Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Apart from the hefty fine, Santos was also asked to pay an additional P5,000 for committing a Flagrant Foul 1 during Game 3.
