More than 300 suspected drug personalities nationwide surrendered to authorities in a span of one week as the Philippine National Police “Oplan: Tokhang” (knock and plead) continues to be bloodless, Chief Supt. John Bulalacao, PNP spokesperson, said yesterday.
Bulalacao said 4,548 drug surrenderers were recorded by the Directorate for Operations as of March 12, from the 4,237 surrenderers as of March 5.
Bulalacao noted that “no cases of armed confrontation with drug suspects” were recorded which translates to zero casualties in Oplan Tokhang, dubbed as the “soft approach” of the PNP in President Duterte’s war on drugs.
He said the Northern Mindanao Regional Police Office had the most number of operations with 1,016 Tokhang activities and 529 drug surrenderers, followed by the Central Luzon Police Regional Office with 1,005 Tokhang activities and 656 drug surrenderers.
