This time, the real President Duterte is endorsing his most trusted man to be one of the country’s senators come 2019.
Duterte made the remark in his speech at the 16th founding anniversary of the Supreme Tribal Council for Peace and Development in Davao City last night.
“Look, he will win as senator…I will bet on it. He would make a great senator. He’s really a bright man,” he said in Bisaya.
Last week, Malacañang admitted its blunder for wrongfully attributing a radio interview with an impersonator of President Duterte where country’s Chief Executive supposedly endorsed Go as one of his senatorial bets.
Malacañang’s News and Information Bureau-Data Processing Center (NIB) of the Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) apologized to Malacañang reporters, and those whom they sent the transcript to, for attributing the interview with the real President Duterte.
“The transcription titled ‘Interview with President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’ by Deo Macalma and Rica Herrera over DZRH on March 19, 2018 should read ‘Interview with Impersonator of President Rodrigo R. Duterte’. Apologies for the error-NIB Transcription Section,” NIB’s email read.
In his speech delivered in Bisaya, Duterte boasted that his long-time right-hand man is a formidable candidate.
“Please don’t forget that guy at the back, who has slanted eyes, when the time comes,” the President added.
Among Go’s most avid supporter is Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar, who was also the principal convenor of the “Ready! Set! Go!” movement which was launched in Intramuros, Manila early this month.
