Veteran actress Mely Tagasa, who played the terror teacher known as Miss Tapia in the popular sitcom “Iskul Bukol,” passed away early yesterday morning.
This was announced by her daughter Gina Marissa Tagasa on social media.
“At 12:26 today (March 24, 2018) our beloved Miss Tapia has joined our creator. The gates of Heaven open for her. We love you very much, Mommy!”
Mely has been in comatose at a hospital for almost a week now after she suffered a massive stroke.
Gina said on Facebook that removing the life support was a tough decision for the family.
In November 2017, Mely made her last public appearance when she received her Walk of Fame star at Eastwood.
In her blog post, fillinthegap.com, Lani Montreal, another daughter of Mely, paid tribute to her “workaholic” mother.
“She is, after all, the most notorious workaholic I know. In fact, before she had a massive stroke, she had three dubbing projects lined up!!! At 82, she finds joy and relevance in her job. ‘Nagkakasakit ako pag walang trabaho!’ I get sick when I’m not working! She does know how to have fun too.;
“With her cataracts removed, she was considering acting again. Her fans would have been happy. Her passion has always been my inspiration. I wrote this blog and turned it into a monologue for Night of the Living Moms last year,” said Lani.
The hugely popular show “Iskul Bukol” ran on television from 1977 to 1990. It starred Senator Tito Sotto, Joey de Leon and Vic Sotto.
