Around 1,500 staff, and volunteers of the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) will be deployed all over the country this Holy Week to aid commuters.
PRC said that all its chapters are on alert to provide help to thousands of commuters who will go home to their provinces.
“In anticipation of the influx of travellers as well as people mobility in places of worship this Holy Week, the Philippine Red Cross ensures the safety of the general public by setting set-up first aid stations, welfare desks, as well as providing ambulance service in areas where people are likely to converge,” Richard Gordon, PRC chairman, said.
According to the humanitarian body, a total of 180 first aid stations were put up as 75 ambulance units were deployed nationwide.
Such were stationed in 45 major highways, 25 bus terminals, 10 gas stations, 50 churches, 25 beach areas, as well as 10 sea and air ports. As such, 15 stations were also set up in areas like parks, and mountains with pilgrimage areas.
