Kapuso star Dingdong Dantes has said that he started giving religious lesson to his two-year-old daughter Letizia who asked him why Jesus Christ was nailed to the cross.
“In our every destination, we make sure to visit local churches na ang tawag ni Letizia ay ‘Papa God’s house,’ said Dantes who is on a two-week vacation with her daughter and wife actress Marian Rivera in Europe.
“Isa ito sa pinaka-trip niyang ginagawa namin dahil ang dami niyang tanong tungkol sa mga rebulto like, ‘who’s dat?’ and ‘wachurname?’ But her most asked question, even at home, is why Papa God has blood on his hands, feet, and ribs;
“It is just amazing that in the process of trying to explain it to her, I also got to reflect a bit on why He really is on that cross;
“Something na hindi ko naman talaga naiisip araw-araw pero, hayun, natumbok niya lalo na’t Semana Santa pa;
“Kaya’t heto, tumambay muna kami sa steps ng Saint Nicolas Cathedral in Monaco, at kasama pa ang bagong manika ni Letizia na si Monica,” said Dantes as he shared a photo of Letizia who sat beside her doll named Monica on Instagram.
The Dantes family began their European tour in the Netherlands. Then they went to France and Monaco. They are expected to wind up their trip to Spain to visit the family of Rivera.
Dantes, chairman of the YesPinoy Foundation, said that he is grateful for GMA 7 for allowing him and his wife to go on a short vacation.
“I am grateful for this short vacation. It has been giving us the much needed quality time with family, some quiet time for school readings, and literally, a bunch of relaxing moments against these ancient walls of Europe. Salamat sa @gmanetwork at pinayagan kaming tumambay muna,” he said.
Dantes also said that he has shot some scenes of the movie “Sid and Aya (Not A Love Story)” opposite Anne Curtis in Japan.
It was his first time to shoot abroad since he joined show business, he said.
“In my 20 years in the entertainment industry, ngayon lang ako nakapag-shoot ng movie sa ibang bansa. I am lucky to have worked with this efficient, ingenious and talented skeletal 20 (plus)-man team of Sid and Aya. Ibang klase talaga ang Pinoy,” said Dantes on IG.
While shooting in Japan, Dantes brought to work some reading materials for school.
“Squeezing in some readings while waiting for the camera to grind. For me, coffee and hard copies are still more effective than tablets – the same formula that has helped me survive being a working student from 1998-2014, with literally a long break in between. Now, here I am again, trying to make the most out of this opportunity because I know that I’m always a work in progress,” Dantes said.
The 37-year-old actor is currently taking up Public Administration at the University of the Philippines in Diliman, Quezon City.
Reports said that the public administration course is in preparation for Dantes to run in the 2019 national elections. The actor has refused to comment on the rumor. (Robert R. Requintina)
