Police arrested a man who earlier surrendered to authorities under Oplan Tokhang (knock and plead) while a minor, who was allegedly being used as a drug courier, was rescued in a buy-bust operation in Occidental Mindoro Saturday afternoon.
Randy Ordanes, 36, tricycle driver, of Purok 5, Barangay San Roque, San Jose,Occidental Mindoro was nabbed in a drug sting conducted by the San Jose Municipal Police’s Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-MIMAROPA region (4B).
According to Supt. Julian Olonan, officer-in-charge of the San Jose Municipal Police, operatives collared Ordanes after he allegedly sold to an undercover agent a sachet of suspected shabu worth P500. The operation was done around 3 p.m. in the nearby Purok Bagong Silang, Barangay Caminawit, San Jose.
Police also learned that Ordanes was also using a minor for his illegal drug activities. The minor, who was later identified as the granddaughter of one Iluminada Decena alias Lumeng, a cohort of Ordanes, was rescued by the police in a follow-up operation.
However, Lumeng managed to escape arrest, police added. Police seized from the suspect a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet with suspected shabu, a P500 bill, a wristwatch, a cellphone, a disposable lighter and a motorcycle. (Martin Sadongdong)
