A former police officer listed by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) as a high-value drug personality was arrested in an entrapment operation, Tuesday afternoon.
Quezon City Police District director Chief Superintendent Guillermo Eleazar identified the suspect as former PO3 Wilborn Lava, known as “Sarge,” 46, a resident of Barangay Del Monte, Quezon City.
According to Eleazar, Lava was assigned to the National Capital Region Police Office when he entered the service in 1998 and went absent without official leave (AWOL) in 2015.
He had been included in QCPD’s high-value target list for being involved in drug activities since 2016.
Eleazar added that Lava was one of the so-called “ninja cops” who were selling drugs recovered in police operations.
After monitoring the suspect, joint operatives of QCPD-Masambong Police Station (PS-2) Drug Enforcement Unit and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency conducted a drug sting against him.
An undercover policeman and Lava agreed to meet on Tuktukan Street in Barangay Masambong at around 4:30 p.m.
Upon handing P14,000 worth of shabu to the poseur-buyer, Lava was immediately collared by the responding officers.
Seized from him were two sachets of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P28,000.
