Two Quezon City rookie policemen were relieved from their posts pending an investigation into the escape of a drug suspect being escorted after inquest proceedings on Saturday.
Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director, ordered the relief of Police Officers 1 Jayson Landayan and Randy Yape, both assigned to the anti-illegal drugs enforcement unit of Novaliches Police Station (PS-4). They were reassigned to the District Headquarters Support Unit, reports said.
The drug suspect who managed to escape under the cops’ watch was identified as 21-year-old Jhan Jhan Abacian, of Novaliches. He was included in PS-4’s drug watchlist.
Abacian was initially nabbed together with Alvin Malaluan, 41, and a 15-year-old boy during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Sauyo around 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Seized from them were eight sachets of shabu, a sachet of marijuana, cell phones and a Yamaha Mio motorcycle allegedly being used in their illegal drug transactions.
