The Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council said it has updated the city’s Disaster Contingency Plan to better prepare the city deal with earthquakes, floods and other disasters more efficiently.
The disaster contingency plan is updated annually to further develop and capacitate the previous year’s plan. As part of the two-pronged strategy for Disaster Resilience of Greater Metro Manila Area (GMMA) of the National Resilience Team under the Presidential Management Staff, the disaster resilience cluster has been adopted as the main strategy to be employed by the national government agencies to ensure earthquake resiliency.
The plan also prepares the cooperation of local hospitals and health centers with the Philippine Blood Center and other blood banks to provide ample supply of blood for would-be victims and other health-related concerns.
Mayor Herbert Bautista is urging the technical working group and the disaster council to have the barangays list down all registered nurses, doctors, engineers, and others with similar professions to have their own incident commander or focal persons who will be responsible for emergency responses.
