Two Chinese nationals wanted in their country for economic crimes have been arrested by government authorities in Pasay City.
Justice Undersecretary Erickson Balmes identified the arrested fugitives as Mao You Chun, 39, and Shi Hongye, 36.
Citing reports from the Bureau of Immigration’s Fugitive Search Unit (BI-FSU), Balmes said Mao was arrested last April 15 at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 in Pasay City.
Mao was arrested during an enforcement operation conducted by the FSU in cooperation with the Philippine National Police (PNP).
The arrest later resulted in the apprehension of Shi in the same area.
Balmes said that both Chinese nationals are undocumented aliens and pose a risk to public safety and security being fugitives.
The undersecretary said the Chinese embassy sought the arrest of the two as they were “involved in Economic Crimes in China and is wanted by Chinese authorities.”
