Two hundred students started to work yesterday at the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
They are under the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) in cooperation with the Department of Labor and Employment (DoLE).
MMDA said that the students will work in their various offices for almost a month. They will be tasked to work as clerks, computer operators, public relations assistants, research assistants, records clerks, legal assistants, messengers, engineering aides, statistician aides, data encoders, etc.
Danilo Lim, MMDA chairman, said that through the SPES, the agency can teach the youth about the mandates of the MMDA – traffic management, solid waste management, urban planning, health, public safety, environmental protection and flood control management, and public safety.
