ZAMBOANGA CITY – A grenade exploded Saturday at a Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) warehouse in Isabela City.
DPWH-ARMM District Engineer Soler Undug pointed to several unidentified men as responsible for the crime that left the warehouse roof damaged.
Undug said nobody was hurt in the explosion which occurred around 7:30 p.m. Responding authorities recovered a safety pin as well as several fragmented parts that lead to the identification of the explosive as an MK2 type grenade.
Investigators believe the explosion is the handiwork of the extremist Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG). Prior, authorities also found an IED planted at the perimeter fence of DPWH-ARMM Basilan assistant district engineer Bong Lasatan’s residence located at the village of Aguada.
