Filipino mixed martial artist Kevin Belingon hopes to get another title shot and a rematch with Brazilian champion Bibiano Fernandes as he aims for a fifth straight win when he meets American Andrew Leone tomorrow in the One: Heroes of Honor at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena in Pasay City.
Nicknamed the “Silencer”, the soft-spoken Belingon said that he is ready this time having trained long and hard.
“I just trained hard and enjoy,” said Belingon, whose ring record is 17-5 and represents Team Lakay. “Iyon ang nagbigay sa akin ng improvement. Kung enjoy, hindi ka mahihirapan sa training.”
“I just love to compete (against anybody), be on top. I believe I keep on winning,” added Belingon, who lost to Fernandes in January 2016, but has won his last four fights in One Championship.
A win against Leone, a 28-year-old native of New York, according to One Championship chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong, could arrange him a rematch with Fernandes, who defended his title with a victory against Martin Nguyen in a split decision last March 24.
