Stephan Schrock scored a sensational volley late in the first half to highlight defending champion Ceres-Negros’ 2-0 victory over archrival Global-Cebu in their Philippines Football League match Wednesday at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
Schrock doubled the lead with a goal off a corner kick shortly before halftime, allowing the Busmen to notch their third straight win and overtake JPV-Marikina for the top spot with nine points.
Mike Ott put Ceres in front 13 minutes after kickoff off an assist from Schrock.
The win came after Ceres downed JPV, 3-0, while Global was coming off a 2-2 draw with the Davao Aguilas over the weekend.
Global remained dead last in the six-team league with just one point after four matches.
