A former detainee who had just finished a drug rehabilitation program was arrested again during a buy-bust operation in Caloocan City, Thursday night.
Operatives from the city’s drug enforcement unit led by Senior Inspector Allan Hernandez arrested 46-year-old Valentin Baluyot alias “Waray,” vendor, of Barangay 32 in Maypajo.
Baluyot was targeted after an asset reported his involvement in illegal drug trade. He was also included in the drug watchlist, police said.
Initial investigation showed that Baluyot was nabbed after he handed three sachet of suspected shabu worth P500 to PO1 Darwin Navarette, who acted as poseur-buyer, on Lupa Street around 6 p.m.
According to PO1 Almario Fabito Jr., investigator on case, Baluyot was already detained in 2017 for violation of Sections 12 and 15 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Baluyot told police that he went back to his illegal activity after he graduated from a rehabilitation program last December.
Appropriate charges will be filed against Baluyot who is now detained at the police detention cell.
