Sen. Grace Poe leads the pack while presidential daughter Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio and retired Philippine National Police chief Director General Ronald M. dela Rosa made it to the “Magic 12” of a pre-election survey conducted by Pulse Asia last month.
The survey conducted from March 23 to 28 found out that more than half or 57 percent of the 1,200 respondents already have preferred senatorial candidates even as the midterm elections is more than a year away.
More than 70 percent of the respondents say they would vote for Poe, a former presidential candidate in 2016, if the elections were held today.
Second on the list is reelectionist Sen. Cynthia A. Villar with 55.6 percent and third is Taguig City Rep. Pia Cayetano, a former senator, with 53.8 percent.
Fourth and fifth are reelectionist Senators Nancy Binay and Sonny Angara with 45.8 percent and 44.9 percent.
Rounding up the Top 12 list are Mayor Duterte, Senate President Koko Pimentel, former Sen. Sergio Osmena, broadcaster Erwin Tulfo, former Sen. Lito Lapid, Dela Rosa, and former Sen. Jinggoy E. Estrada.
Trailing them are Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos, Sen. Bam Aquino, and Sen. JV Ejercito.
