BACOOR, Cavite – A couple and their three children died before dawn Tuesday in a two-hour fire that razed their rented one-storey residential unit owned by one Pilar Morana on Lirio Street, De Castro Village II, Barangay Aniban II here.
Senior Inspector Alyster C. Castro, Bacoor Fire Marshal, said the charred remains of driver Christopher Moyano, 37, was found beside that of his 14-year old daughter Christine Juliane, and 4-month old Samuel Dane, near the comfort room door.
The cadaver of Moyano’s live-in partner, online retailer Shirley Abalos, 37, was found inside the comfort room embracing that of their son Chris Nathan, 3.
Castro, citing neighbors of the couple, said the fire broke out mere two hours after the family arrived from an undisclosed trip.
According to neighbors they even heard the family having a conversation around 12 midnight, some two hours before the fire broke out at around 1:50 a.m.
The fire was eventually extinguished around 4:11 a.m.
Castro said they are yet to determine the cause of the blaze that caused at least P200,000 in damages.
Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla has since ordered a thorough investigation of the incident.
Meanwhile, another fire was reported the same day in the same district at Barangay Tabing-dagat, a coastal area.
The Bacoor Fire Station said the fire, which started at 1:28 p.m., engulfed several shanties in the area.
