The Philippine National Police said yesterday that the situation in Boracay Island remains peaceful and orderly two days after it was closed to tourists for a massive cleanup.
Chief Supt. Cesar Hawthorne Binag, director of the Western Visayas Police Regional Office, noted the importance of maintaining a peaceful environment in the world-famous island to enable its smooth rehabilitation process.
“Police Regional Office 6 has been successful in the implementation of the security plan for the Boracay closure and rehabilitation by maintaining peace and order and security in the island,” Binag said.
“In two days of closure, the situation has been very manageable with 332 personnel deployed on Day 1 and 265 on Day 2. Record shows that there’s a decrease in the number of crime incidents,” he added.
