HE was fired from a newspaper “for not being creative enough.” One of his early ventures went bankrupt. He suffered disappointments, but he never gave up. He persevered, and conceptualized “the most magical place on earth.” His name: Walt Disney, creator of Mickey Mouse and founder of Disneyland.
For people like Walt, giving up is not an option. They persist until they reach their goals in life. They work hard even if the progress seems very small, and even when they don’t see any progress yet.
Where do you want to go? What do you want to achieve? Have you taken the first step? If your previous endeavors failed, what other options can you take?
How’s your progress? Instead of saying you are miles away from your goal, say you are a step or two steps closer to it. You are on the second rung of the ladder. Every beginning may be a bit fearful, but it is very important that you take the first step and plod on. Babe Ruth was quoted as saying, “Every strike brings me closer to the next homerun.”
Celebrate every step forward. Enjoy the journey!
Plod on. It means you have to persist – whatever your emotional, physical, mental, and financial state. Focus on your goals despite the rejections, the insults, the illnesses, the lack of budget, and the break up.
Someday, you will reap your reward. The Lord will crown your efforts, and perhaps, like Walt, you will be amazed at the results. “Don’t give up when you’re hardest hit/It’s when things seem worst that you must not quit!”
