Police seized yesterday some P100,000 worth of illegal drugs and a handgun from a young couple and their companion during a drug sting in Quezon City.
Superintendent Ariel Capocao, chief of Quezon City Police District-Kamuning Police Station (PS-10), identified the arrested suspects as couple Jhalal Lotao and Jane Lee Espinas, both 19, and residents of Barangay Immaculate Concepcion, Quezon City; and Alvin de Dios, butcher, 27, of Bataan.
Police said the couple owns a mobile phone case stall at the corner of EDSA and Monte de Piedad in Barangay Immaculate Concepcion near bus terminals, which the suspects allegedly used to sell illegal drugs.
Operatives of PS-10 Drug Enforcement Unit and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency launched an entrapment operation against the suspects leading to their arrest. Seized from them were 29 sachets of shabu worth around P100,000 and the buy-bust money.
A 9mm Beretta pistol with ammunition was also confiscated from Lotao.
The arrested drug suspects were brought to the police station and will be charged with violation of the anti-drugs law and illegal possession of firearm in relation to the existing Comelec gun ban.
