Police have rescued three minor children from their 63-year old father who has been using them as drug couriers following a drug bust in Busuanga town of Palawan.
Supt. Imelda Tolentino, spokesperson of the MIMAROPA (Mindoro Occidental and Oriental, Marindque, Romblon, and Palawan) regional police, said the three children, the youngest is 12 years old, were already turned over to the local Social Works and Development Office.
She identified the suspect as Mohammad Sarif Sood, alias Immam, a resident of Sitio Kiwit in Barangay Sagrada, Busuanga town.
Tolentino said joint police and military operatives swooped down on the lair of Sood after a drug bust led to the arrest of his children at around 2 p.m. Monday.
“The children were being used to deliver the suspected shabu when they were apprehended by the operating team,” Tolentino said.
Investigation is now being conducted as to how long suspect has been using his children as drug couriers, as well as all his clients.
Seized during the operation were 31 pieces big heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing suspected shabu; two P1,000 bills used as marked money, P37,000 cash; three open plastic sachets with traces of alleged shabu; nine rounds live ammunition, one piece black leather wallet, one black jacket, one bundle of transparent plastic sachets.
Tolentino said Sood and the confiscated items are now under the custody of Coron police station.
