ILIGAN CITY – A man long wanted by authorities for separate rape and murder charges was finally captured Wednesday at the Mindanao State University construction site in Marawi City by National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) agents.
Atty. Abdul Jamal D. Dimaporo, NBI-Iligan district office chief, identified the suspect as Antonio Barangian Sr., 54.
According to Dimaporo, Barangian denied the rape charges, insisting he paid his 16-year old niece for the deed.
Barangian maintained innocence as well concerning the murder of his fellow security guard in 2004. He will be brought to Cagayan de Oro City to face his accusers.
