A police colonel was killed while his live-in partner was wounded following an ambush perpetrated by a lone gunman in Antipolo, Rizal early yesterday morning.
According to Chief Superintendent Guillermo Eleazar, regional director of the Calabarzon Police Regional Office (PRO-4A), Superintendent Ramy Tagnong, PRO-4A legal department chief, was declared dead on arrival at the Antipolo Doctors Hospital due to multiple gunshot wounds.
Tagnong’s live-in partner, Maria Angela Cabaltera Hadap, 36, is currently in critical condition with several bullet wounds on her back and on her arm.
The two were said to have been attacked by the motorcycle riding gunman while they were onboard their vehicle at the vicinity of Barangay Dalig 1, Antipolo City around 6:40 a.m.
Eleazar said the victims were supposed to attend a mass at Quiapo when the incident happened.
Police are looking at the possibility of Tagnong being murdered due to his work.
