Former pro league star Richie Ticzon will be back on the coaching spotlight as he calls the shots for Navotas Clutch starting in the next conference of the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League in June.
Ticzon, 46, who once called the shots for GlobalPort Batang Pier in the PBA, will take over the coaching reins left by Elvis Tolentino, who walked away to expansion team Marikina Shoelanders after leading the Clutch to the quarterfinals in the Anta Rajah Cup.
“Being a clutch player himself, we believe coach Richie is the best fit for our team,” said Atty. Rico Quicho, a member of the Clutch team management. “His attention to detail and passion to teach and develop young players demonstrate what Navotas Clutch is all about.”
Joining Ticzon, the fourth overall selection by defunct Pepsi Mega in the 1994 PBA rookie draft, in the revamped Clutch coaching staff are deputies Gabby Severino, Ed dela Torre, and Bernard de Guia.
Quicho added that the Clutch will continue to field a formidable team.
