Director Camilos Cascolan, head of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), ordered all police commanders in Metro Manila to monitor and list simple acts of goodness by all their men which will later be evaluated for awards and recognition.
Cascolan said his plan is to reward good deeds of his men in Metro Manila, by translating every good deed of policeman to a paid leave of absence for them to spend more time with their family or get a vacation they need.
“We are currently drafting awards and recognitions. Every award has its equivalent Service Leave Credits that will allow the awardee to spend quality time with his or her family,” said Cascolan.
The move, according to Cascolan, is part of his program of enhancing the morale and welfare of his men in Metro Manila.
The good deeds, he said, range from simple acts of kindness similar to what is being posted in the social media wherein uniformed policemen are seen helping senior citizens to cross the streets, feed the hungry or play with street kids.
But Cascolan warned against those who would dare fake the good deeds and post them in the social media, noting that they are more likely to put themselves in trouble than being rewarded.
“Each award would be strictly verified by our personnel from the Morale and Welfare Section,” said Cascolan.
He said he had already discussed his plans to the five district directors and other police commanders in Metro Manila.
“More than any award. I would like to emphasize that recognition or even a simple appreciation for the good deeds that you do for the organization and for the public will definitely bring you pride and a feeling of satisfaction,” said Cascolan.
The NCRPO Chief, however, said that while he is bent on rewarding good cops, he would be tough against scalawag policemen.
“We have zero tolerance on erring, abusive and tardy policemen,” said Cascolan.
