ISULAN, Sultan Kudarat – A village chair and an alleged Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) commander were among those killed following separate anti-illegal drug operations in Lambayong last Saturday.
Senior Supt. James Gulmatico, Sultan Kudarat police director, said Barangay Tambak chair Yusop Mukalam was shot and killed by operatives of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) serving a search warrant at his place after Mukalam allegedly greeted them with gunfire.
A .45 caliber handgun, as with seven sachets of shabu valued at P35,000, were among items reportedly recovered from Mukalam.
Randy Kamid, an alleged MILF commander, met the same fate as Mukalam after also supposedly engaging arresting officers in a firefight.
Reportedly seized from Kamid was a .38 caliber revolver and 12 sachets of shabu worth P70,000.
Like Mukalam and Kamid, a certain Jaime Silongan also died in a hail of bullets after supposedly firing at arresting lawmen, who were only too happy to retaliate.
An Ingram sub-machine gun and five sachets of shabu valued at P25, 000 were reportedly seized from Silongan.
