BaliPure-NU starts its title bid against Iriga-Navy today even as PetroGazz and Tacloban try to bounce back from opening day defeats in the 2018 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at The Arena in San Juan City.
The Water Defenders and the Oragons clash at 4 p.m. with the former going for a hot start while the Angels and the Fighting Warays collide at 6:30 p.m.
BaliPure is composed of current and former stars of NU like Joy Doromal, Faith Nisperos, Roselyn Doria and Audrey Paran.
American middle blocker Alexis Mathews is out to provide addition firepower to the Babes Castillo-mentored squad.
Iriga-Navy, meanwhile, boasts of players from various colleges in Arellano’s Mary Jane Ticar, Technological Institute of the Philippines’ Hezzymie Acuña, Adamson veteran Janet Serafica and University of Perpetual Help’s Shyrra Cabriana.
They also have a pair of equally exciting guest players in Macy Ubben and Lauren Whyte.
The Angels are out to bounce back from a 25-18, 25-16, 25-13 defeat to the Creamline Cool Smashers, while Fighting Warays succumbed to the PayMaya High Flyers, 25-8, 33-31, 25-20.
Tacloban needs to improve its blocking after making only once the last time and should get the best from Jovielyn Prado, Shola Alvarez and Thai Amporn Hyapha.
Kadi Kullerkann finished as the lone double-digit scorer for For PetroGazz with only 11 points.
