President Duterte lamented letting go of his appointees who were involved in corrupt practices, especially those who urged him to run for President, but said that it had to be done.
Duterte made the statement a day after Wanda Teo resigned from her post as Tourism Secretary following the controversial R60-million ad deal between the Department of Tourism and State-run PTV-4.
The President, in a speech at the launching of the New Generation Currency bank note and coin series Wednesday, said he was made to believe that the officials were really one with him in bringing positive change in the country.
“If you’d notice, karamihan kong nawala sa akin are really the very first person who got booted. I’m very sad that they are the very first to go,” Duterte said.
“There is no way of telling ‘yung maglapit sa’yo na ganun, ganun ka, and you thought you might ever fall into the trap of believing that you are with a crowd for change,” he added.
