DIVINE Diva Zsa Zsa Padilla has admitted slowing down from show business but she is not ready to retire from the industry.
“I think it’s slowing down but slowing down doesn’t have to be standstill,” said Padilla, during an interview on “Tonight With Boy Abunda” on ABS CBN.
“May privilege na ako ngayon na ‘Ano ba ‘yung next show?’ ‘Ano ba yung gagawin?’ Kasi parang dumating na ako sa punto ng bunay ko na pwede na magrelax. Relax ka lang,” she said.
Padilla, 53, appeared on the show to promote her intimate concert “The Best Day of My Life” at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Resorts World Manila in Pasay City on May 11.
“It came from a song of Dido which Karylle and I used to do. When we were conceptualizing the show, malapit sya sa Mother’s Day. Hindi ko pa naisip ‘yung anniversary actually;
“So sabi ko ay maganda yan Mother’s Day dapat title na lang ng kanta para it would relate to how a parent would feel being with her children, moms especially;
“I always tell that to my kids eh. Kasi I don’t get to see them as much anymore because they are all grown-ups now.
So everytime we had the chance na magdinner, maglunch, I would say ‘hey I love this time.’ That’s what I always say, I had the best time.
“The Best Day of My Life” concert is a 3-in-one celebration: Mother’s Day, Zsa Zsa’s birthday, and 35th showbiz anniversary.
“I’d be doing a lot of OPMs which people have come to love in the 35 years that I’ve been around. I’m celebrating my birthday. So medyo may ganung portions may concentration sa aking career, then my family life, and then me, and what’s ahead,” she said.
Padilla, who brought the monster OPM hits “Kahit Na,” “Hiram,” “Ikaw Lamang,” etc., also addressed the issue on age or getting old.
“Actually pag sinasabihan ako na matanda ka na, sinasagot ko. Sabi ko ‘Yeah! I am old!’ I feel that aged doesn’t have to be addressed.
“In this industry, alam natin na youth is a premium. We can’t blame naman this industry kasi talagang iniidolo nating lahat ang kabataan.
“But they have to understand that we are getting old and we should not be ashed of getting older. Kasi parang nagugulat sila na ay tumatanda na sya! Tao lang kasi. May nagsabi nga rin na e kasi Ms Z feeling nila bampira kayo.
“Accepted ko talaga ‘yung edad ko. I want people to know that I do know I am 54 (on May 28) and I know that I’m old.
I’m proud of my age.
“Ang hindi ko lang ma take is ‘yung women being mean to other women. Sabi ko bakit? We should be friends? We should be allies! Dapat we are backing each other up! Would you do that to your mom? Would you do that to your lola?’
‘Matanda ka na!’ Hindi mo naman gaganunin ‘yung mga mahal mo sa buhay!” added Padilla.
