LIPA CITY, Batangas – Two female Korean nationals were found dead here Thursday in what police believe was an apparent case of double suicide.
The fatalities were discovered hanging by their necks in their rented room at Buenavida Apartments, Purok 5, Barangay San Sebastian here around 5:30 p.m. by their neighbors identified as Leonardo Tena, 65 and Teresita Dela Cruz, 59.
Investigators learned the two were having financial trouble for some time prior their death, citing reports by neighbors.
Allegedly, the duo was distressed for the past few days having had their electricity cut due to unpaid bills.
They were also supposedly late in paying their rent for some 3 months already.
Police have since coordinated with the Korean Embassy in an effort to contact the families of the fatalities.
Their remains, meanwhile, were temporarily taken to the San Fernando Funeral Homes.
