BUTUAN CITY – An alleged commander of the Communist New People’s Army Terrorist (CNT) who was wounded during a gunbattle with government security forces was captured by pursuing troops in Southern Mindanao, Capt. Jerry S. Lamosao, chief of Public Affairs Office (PAO) of the Army’s 10th Infantry (Agila) Division (10th ID), said.
In a statement sent to The Manila Bulletin late Saturday afternoon, the 10th ID PAO officer said the wounded CNT commanding officer was given initial medical aid for his bullet wounds by the government field troops before he was sent to a hospital. However, Capt. Lamosao said the captured CNT commander will face the bar of justice for his alleged criminal actions and other terroristic activities.
The CNT commander whose identity was temporarily withheld was captured in a fierce gunbattle with field troops of the Army’s 1003rd Infantry Brigade at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday (May 10) in Sitio Linao, Barangay Kipilas, Kitaotao, Bukidnon province. At 2 p.m. the following day (May 11), clearing and pursuing troops of the 1003rd Brigade found in the earlier encounter site and rebels escape route of withdrawal, blood stains, several napkins stained with blood and enemy bunkers, Capt. Lamosao said. During pursuit operation, the wounded CNT commander’s unabated terroristic actions finally ceased through Joint Law enforcement pursuit operation at 10 a.m. on Saturday (May 12), the 10th ID PAO officer said.
