Three children perished in a fire after they got trapped inside their house in Pasig City yesterday morning.
Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Pasig identified the victims as Princess Joy Navidas, 7, and her brothers John Andrew , 4, and BJ, 2.
Investigation showed that the mother of the victims left a pot boiling when she went out to buy bread at around 6 a.m. She left her children in their house located at No 117 San Isidro St., Centennial 2, Nagpayong 2, Barangay Pinagbuhatan.
Senior Insp. Jerson Montillano, Arson chief investigator, said the unattended pot on an improvised stove triggered the fire.
Reports said that the children were awakened by the thick smoke but panicked afterwards.
The mother, according to authorities, said that their house was already on fire when she returned.
The fire also consumed an adjacent house which was made of combustible materials as well. Firefighters put off the fire at 6:53 a.m.
After the blaze, the burned bodies of the victims were found in one room small room where they slept. (Jel Santos)
