ISULAN, Sultan Kudarat – Authorities arrested two members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front who were allegedly trying to disrupt poll canvassing in Paglat, Maguindanao Monday.
Lt.Col. Harold Cabunoc, 33rd Infantry Battalion commander, said the suspects were accosted by security forces milling around the municipal hall of Paglat.
He identified the suspects as Bong Kanakan and Jeffrey Talusan who yielded an unlicensed .45 caliber pistol.
Cabunoc said the suspects were out to intervene in the poll canvassing in favor of the candidates they were supporting.
He said the suspects were also tagged responsible for firing a grenade launcher near a polling precinct in Barangay Damakling earlier the same day.
Aldulrahim Molilis, a member of the MILF-Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities, said the MILF leadership will not condone any of their men caught engaging in partisan politics.
