CAMP COLONEL RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – A police officer was wounded while an undetermined number of New People’s Army (NPA) guerillas were believed either killed or hurt following a gun battle in far-flung Lamusig in Barangay Manila de Bugabos, some 35 kilometers south of Butuan, Tuesday.

Initial report reaching the regional command and monitoring action center of Northeastern Mindanao Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) based here, identified the wounded cop as Police Inspector Mark Wayne M. Uberto of the 1304th Maneuver Company of the 13th Regional Mobile Force Battallion (13th RMFBn).

He is now recuperating in an undisclosed hospital. Pursuit operation against the fleeing rebels is still ongoing.
