The National Housing Authority has been authorized to distribute unoccupied and unawarded housing units of uniformed personnel to other qualified beneficiaries based on a joint resolution signed by President Duterte.
MalacaƱang has released a copy of Joint Resolution No. 2 signed by the President last May 9 allowing the awarding of such idle housing units to low-salaried government personnel and informal settlers amid the low occupancy rate.
The joint resolution was passed by the Senate last December and adopted by the House of Representatives last January.
Under the joint resolution, the NHA has been empowered “to award to other qualified beneficiaries the unawarded housing units, awarded housing units that are not yet occupied and whose ownership and possession are surrendered by their respective awareness, and housing units whose respective awards were cancelled in the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and Bureau of Corrections housing projects.”
