Team Philippines’ title hopes in the 2018 World Cup of Pool were shattered into pieces yesterday as Carlo Biado and Jeffrey De Luna proved no match to China-B’s Kong Dejing and Wang Ming, 9-1, in the quarterfinals at the Luwan Arena in Shanghai, China.
The fourth-ranked Filipino poolsharks, coming off a 7-0 blanking of England last Friday, groped for form and hardly showed any resistance to their Chinese counterparts, ending their title pursuit with a whimper.
Biado, the reigning world 9-ball champion, and De Luna could console themselves with $9,000 for reaching the Last 8 stage of the world’s most prestigious 9-ball doubles tourney which offers a total pot money of $250,000.
