ILOILO CITY – The Office of the Cabinet Secretary’s campaign to alleviate poverty has been rolled out in Western Visayas region.
Around 3,000 participants attended the Saturday regional launch of “Biyaya ng Pagbabago” at West Visayas State University in Iloilo City.
Cabinet Assistant Secretary Jonas Soriano said the campaign is aligned with the Duterte administration’s plan to reduce poverty to 14 percent from 21.6 percent.
Soriano said this could be done by pushing government agencies to efficiently and effectively deliver services while seeking greater role from the citizenry to avail basic services.
“There’s always a disconnect. We want to change attitudes of both the people and government workers,” said Soriano.
