Top seed La Salle Greenhills reaffirmed its mastery over University of the East, 108-70, to advance to the semis of the PCABL 11th Freego Cup held over the weekend at the Buddhacare gym in Quezon City.
As in their previous wins, the reigning NCAA champions leaned on a well-balanced attack to extend their winning streak to seven games since dropping their opening game.
Five La Salle players scored in double figures with Ladis Lepalam and Lennox Valenzuela finishing with 14 and 13points, respectively.
Out to foil La Salle’s bid is Adamson which scored a 73-63 win over Jose Rizal University Light Bombers, 73-63, in the event also backed by Choi Garden, CW Home Depot, Powerhouse, and Hapee Toothpaste.
The other semis match pits No. 2 seed Malayan University against National University.
The NU Bullpups bucked the exit of one of their stars to oust Far Eastern University, 59-51, – thanks to the efforts of Carl Tamayo and Gerry Abadiano.
No. 2 seed Malayan University, on the other hand, got a big lift – this time from Dan Arches ¬to subdue University of Perpetual Help, 89-74.
In his finest game so far, Arches erupted for 21 points aside from grabbing eight boards to outshine his more popular teammate Clint Escamis.
