Police have arrested a woman who allegedly plotted the killing of an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who was shot to death in front of his house in Lipa City in Batangas after his arrival from Saudi Arabia on Saturday. Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, head of the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) regional police, said that suspect Janet Manalo Capalad was arrested along with her live-in partner identified as Roel Dinglasan Guico.
“We consider the two of them as the mastermind behind the killing of Danilo Henson Teruel based on the investigation and the account of the witnesses,” Eleazar said.
Teruel, 57, had just arrived in his house in Purok 1 in Barangay Pinagkawitan with his wife at around 8:30 p.m. on Saturday unidentified gunman repeatedly shot him.
Eleazar said Guico was actually the driver of the car that fetched Teruel at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
Both Teruel and Guico met in Saudi Arabia and the latter went home before the victim. The official said witnesses told the investigators they saw Guico talking to a man a day before the shooting and a few minutes before the shooting of Teruel.
The man turned out to be the gunman. He is currently being hunted down by the police. But at the course of the investigation, the name of Janet Capalad had surfaced and police later found out that she is the live-in partner of Guico.
The plot further thickens as the investigation also found out that Capalad was allegedly married to Teruel in Saudi Arabia.
Local investigators, however, would not further disclose details on the case due to its sensitivity and out of respect for the family of Teruel.
