The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has been tasked to investigate the killing of retired Ozamis City prosecutor Geronimo Marabe. “I have directed the NBI to investigate this latest attack,” said Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra yesterday.
“The DOJ (Department of Justice) will not take these violent incidents sitting down,” he stressed. Prosecutor General Jorge Catalan Jr. has already condemned the latest attack against state prosecutors and expressed belief that prosecutors.should arm themselves. “It is high time that a nationwide call to arm the NPS (National Prosecution Service) be made.
That self-defense trainings and mechanisms be set in place to safeguard the very lives of these selfless public servants,” said Catalan.
