The Department of Foreign Affairs said yesterday that two Filipina nurses were killed in a car accident in Australia last Friday.
The DFA did not disclose the identities of the fatalities but said the two medical workers were active members of the Filipino community in Canberra who were on their way to Melbourne to attend an El Shaddai anniversary event.
In her report to the DFA, Ambassador Minda Cruz of the Philippine Embassy in Canberra said the husband, three children, and a relative of one of the fatalities were also injured in the car crash.
Cruz, who visited the injured victims in the hospital, said they were on board a Dodge Journey that collided head on with a Toyota Land Cruiser driven by a 65-year-old man.
The crash, which took place along a highway stretch in Wallaroo, about an hour from Canberra, is under investigation by authorities.
