PetroGazz survived a second-set scare before besting Iriga-Navy, 25-22, 30-28, 25-13, yesterday in the 2018 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at The Arena in San Juan City.
The Angels held their composure despite losing a 16-11 second-set lead to improve their win-loss tally to 2-3.
Ukrainian outside hitter Olena Lymareva-Flink fired 12 kills and four aces to debut with PetroGazz with 16 points, filling in the void left by injured Estonian import Kadi Kullerkann.
Cherry Rose Nunag and import Anastasiia Trach also added combined 17 points for the Angels.
In men’s play, PLDT posted an emphatic 25-15, 25-10, 25-23 victory.
The PLDT Spikers needed only 64 minutes to clinch the victory and even their win-loss record at 2-2.
Veterans John Vic De Guzman and Mark Alfafara paced PLDT with 11 points apiece.
PLDT outplayed Army in spikes (41-24), blocks (5-4) and service aces (9-1) as the Troopers slipped to their third consecutive defeat since winning their opening-game assignment.
Jayvee Sumagaysay and Kheeno Franco finished with nine points each for PLDT.
