Singer Jed Madela had to apologize to some fans recently after ostensibly trying to make fun of Britney spears’ singing style on the ABS-CBN talent show “Your Face Sounds Familiar Kids.”
As Voice Mentor in the competition, Jed gave instructions to Krystal Brimner – who was trying to impersonate Spears by doing “Oops! . . . I Did It Again” – how to properly ape the singer’s singing style mentioning various animal sounds.
He said, “Meron siyang tunog palaka, ducks, geese, may tunog rin siyang kambing…”
Fans were quick to hit back at the singer on Twitter for the comment.
One posted, “k. you’re talented, @jedmadela but why say that about Britney? I know you’re just joking but it fired something on B-Army, they (we) got offended… disappointed.”
Realizing he stirred a hornet’s nest, Madela quickly tweeted back, “Hello!!! Uyyyy I’m sorry! Please don’t get me wrong. I, too, am Britney fan since day one until now! It was a way of making the kid easily understand how to switch her voice. Didn’t mean anything bad.”
He added, “…we just did that way of teaching para mas madali makuha ng kids ang boses. Of course, inexaggerate lang namin yun para mas ma emphasize ang uniqueness ng boses ni Britney.
As to why he chose to use animal sounds to describe Britney’s singing style, he wrote, “…we just had to compare it to animal sounds kasi yun ang theme (ng episode).”
He went on to admit he was kind of “harsh” but with continued criticism he shot back, “I have said my piece and my apology. Thanks to those who understood and accepted my apologies. To those who continue bashing, I can’t do anything anymore.”
