An officer of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has just been found guilty of breach of conduct charges in relation to violations made on his Statements of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN). BIR Officer III Caesar Cortes was found guilty of three counts of violation of Section 8, in relation to Section 11 of Republic Act 6713 or the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees. The decision was rendered by Judge Evangeline Cabochan-Santos of the Municipal Trial Court in Cities, Branch 2, Antipolo City. Cortes’ charges stemmed from his failure to submit a true and detailed declaration of his business interests and financial connections in his SALN from 2008 to 2010. (Czarina Nicole Ong)
