CAMP COLONEL RAFAEL C. RODRIGUEZ, Butuan City – An alleged high -ranking official of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) was arrested by the combined forces of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) at Emenvile Subdivision, Barangay Ambago, Butuan City Thursday afternoon, a regional police official said.
Chief Supt. Noli A. Romana, regional director of Northeastern Mindanao Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13), identified the arrested alleged CPP-NPA official as Nerita Calamba De Castro also known as Nene/Neneng, 55, a resident of Purok Nangka, Barangay Bioto, Tandag City, Surigao del Sur.
The regional police chief alleged that the arrested suspect is the head finance of CPP-NPA Komisyon Mindanao (KOMMID) and secretary general of Regional White Area Committee.
Romana also claimed that the suspect was allegedly charged with murder and was arrested through implementation of an arrest warrant issued in Surigao Del Sur dated March 13, 2018 (Mike Crsimundo)
