Creamline made short work of BaliPure-National University as it cruised to an easy 25-22, 25-18, 25-16 victory yesterday to gain an outright semifinal berth in the 2018 Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at The Arena in San Juan City.
Alyssa Valdez and Thai import Kuttika Kaewpin powered the Cool Smashers with 15 and 10 points, respectively, as they coasted to their fifth win in six outings to remain on top of the standings.
Valdez stepped up at the attack line with 11 kills, including crucial spikes midway in the third frame that saw Creamline erase a 15-12 deficit and take 20-18 lead.
National University standout Risa Sato also delivered for the Cool Smashers with nine points while Jia Morado had 30 excellent sets.
Janisa Johnson and Alexis Matthews had combined 23 points for BaliPure, but it was not enough as the Water Defenders fell to 3-3 for a four-way tie for third place.
Meantime, Vice Co. took advantage of PLDT’s sloppy plays and pulled off a 25-20, 25-23, 23-25, 25-20 win to gain a share of the lead in the men’s division.
Richard Solis and John Paul Bugaoan starred for the Blockbusters who forced the PLDT Spikers to commit 34 errors and nail their third win in four matches.
The win enabled them to tie the Cignal HD Spikers for the lead.
